Pearl M. Sloboda, 86, of Nemacolin, died at 1:25 a.m. Monday, December 1, 1997, at Indiana Hospital, Indiana, Pa.
She was born on August 7, 1911, in Phillips, a daughter of Thomas R. and Anna Elizabeth Moore Roderick.
Mrs. Sloboda attended Cumberland Township High School in Carmichaels and the St. Jude Hospital School of Nursing in Fullerton, Calif. She lived in Nemacolin most of her life.
Mrs. Sloboda was a member of the First Christian Church of Carmichaels, where she was a retired elder. She was also a past president of the Carmichaels Area Women's Civic Club, a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Nemacolin Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 299 of Indiana.
Mrs. Sloboda was a Past Queen and Protector of the Dames of Malta No. 114, Uniontown and a member of the Degree of Honor No. 44 of Indiana.
On October 25, 1930, she married Paul Sloboda in Cumberland, Md., who died February 18, 1991. They were married by the Rev. Harry Eval.
Surviving are three daughters, Audrey A. Leyko of Westminster, Calif., and twin daughters, Pearl E. Georgiana of Indiana, and Paula K. Palone of Gooding, Idaho; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two foster grandchildren; two foster great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Roy Roderick, is deceased.
