In memoriam of Milroy A. "Bill" Waggett, October 23, 1922 ~ July 29, 2013
Milroy A. "Bill" Waggett, 90, of Butler passed away Monday at Good Samaritan Hospice at Concordia.
He was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Nemacolin, Pa., to the late William Roy Waggett and Edith B. Lint Waggett.
Mr. Waggett worked as an office night clerk, and then he also worked in the Mine Machine Shop. He was a coal miner for five years while attending Waynesburg University, graduating with a degree in psychology and education. He then attended Western Theological Seminary for one semester. He then earned a master's degree in criminal justice from Indiana University.
Mr. Waggett worked as a district scout executive for 23 years, then for Butler County Court for 20 years as director of juvenile court.
He was an Eagle Scout and attended three National Scout Jamborees as a staff member and made three trips as director to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. Mr. Waggett served as an elder and deacon in many Presbyterians churches, also as church school superintendent and taught every age of church school classes from kindergarten through adult.
He served three years in the U.S. Air Force as crew chief on various aircraft in the training command.
Mr. Waggett is survived by two sons, William A. Waggett and his companion, Cheryl, and Richard A. Waggett and his wife, Joyce, both of Butler; three grandchildren, Christopher Waggett, Tiffany Wilson and her husband, Jeremy, and Kayla Kiser and her husband, Shane, all of Butler; two great-grandsons, Ian Joseph Wilson and Gavin John Wilson; one brother, Leroy Donald Waggett of Carmichaels, Pa.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie L. Waggett, who he married on Nov. 15, 1949, and who passed away on Aug. 5, 2010; one sister; and one brother.
WAGGETT - Friends of Milroy A. "Bill" Waggett, who passed away Monday, July 29, 2013, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St. Butler, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Jaminson officiating. Entombment will take place in the Chapel of Devotion, Butler County Memorial Park.
