He was born January 15, 1920, in Latrobe, a son of Anthony Louis and Mary DeVitto Boggio.
Mr. Boggio resided in Nemacolin most of his life,
where he was a member of Our Lady of Consolation
Roman Catholic Church.
He attended Cumberland Township High School.
Mr. Boggio worked as a mechanic for Nemacolin
Mine until his retirement in 1978 and served as
president of United Mine Workers Association
Local 6290 for many years.
He co-owned and operated Nemacolin Hotel from
1949 until 1970.
Mr. Boggio was an avid poker player.
On May 14, 1938, he married his wife of 46 years,
Rita Jean Antonini Boggio, who died March 7, 1985.
His companion, Thelma Orlosky, is deceased.
Surviving are a son, Jim Boggio of Clinton Township,
Mich.; two daughters, Penny Rae Wasko and Terrie
Simko, both of Carmichaels; six grandchildren, Bill
Hanuschock, DeAnn Baermann, Vanessa Young, Matthew
and Bethany Boggio and Rita Simko; four great-
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a brother, Ernest Boggio, and a sister,
Catherine B. Antonini.
