|Mary E. Vrabel, 94, of New Salem, Pa.,
passed away Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at her home.
She was born March 17, 1908, at Baggaley, Pa., daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Ellis Boles and stepfather, Gabriel Kmetz Sr.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Vrabel; a grandson, Scott A. Vrabel; and the following sisters and brothers, Catherine Bolas, Mary Kmetz, John Kmetz Sr., Anna Good and Gabriel Kmetz Jr. Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a member of St. Procopius Roman Catholic Church in New Salem, the Rosary, Altar and Christian Mothers Society, the Procopians, and for a number of years served as housekeeper. She was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union and for many years served as custodian at the New Salem Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two sons, Valentine Vrabel and his wife, Rose and Michael Vrabel and his wife, Sandra, all of New Salem; a grandson, John Vrabel and his wife, Cathy of New Salem; a granddaughter, Robin Tomasek of East Millsboro; and a great-granddaughter, Amanda Tomasek. Mary was also a grandmother to Rick Kaufman of Hibbs, and Donna Bulina of New Salem.
Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, New Salem, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at 10 a.m., in the St. Procopius R.C. Church, New Salem, with the Rev. Fr. James L. Popochock as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Procopius R.C. Church Cemetery. A Parish Wake Service will be held, in the funeral home, at 3 p.m., today.
