Ralph B. Lewellen, 91, of Rices Landing, Pa., formerly of Covington, died at 4 p.m. Dec. 27 at Greene County Memorial Hospital in Waynesburg, Pa. He was a mechanic with Nemacolin Mine in Nemacolin, Pa., a carpenter, a motion picture projectionist, and a retired guard with the Pinkerton Detective Service. He also was a member of Independence Masonic Lodge and Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, Ryland Heights, where he was a Sunday school teacher. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Disabled American Veterans.
His wife, Mary E. Pittock Lewellen, died in 1996. A son, Raymond Lee Lewellen, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth E. Lewellen of Ryland Heights; a brother, Frank Lewellen of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Wilda Shaszar of Columbiana, Ohio; and one grandchild.
Services were Dec. 30 at Behm Funeral Home, Jefferson, Pa. Entombment was in Greene County Memorial Park Mausoleum, Jefferson.
