K. Stultz-Garofalo

Volunteer for Brownsville Women's Hospital

Katherine Stultz-Garofalo, 89, a resident of Friendship Village, Upper St. Clair, died April 8, 1999.

She had been a lifelong resident of Brownsville.

Her husband, Dr. Ralph Garofalo, is deceased.

Surviving are three sisters, Dorothy D. Burns, Marie Evans and Frances Rockwell; a brother, Louis Stultz; and many nieces and nephews.

She spent much of her time volunteering for Brownsville Women's Hospital Auxiliary and Brownsville Garden Club, of which she was treasurer and recording secretary for more than 25 years. Her knowledge and expertise in growing orchids earned her many accolades. She also was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

She was a volunteer for the Red Cross Blood Bank and the Cancer Society. She also was a member of the Cancer Crusade for Fayette County Board of Directors, directing scores of volunteers in reaching quotas never before achieved in that area.

She was a member of California University of Pennsylvania Alumni Association, and a member of Nemacolin Country Club.

She and Dr. Garofalo were among the founders of Brownsville Historical Society. She also was an honorary member of Du Bourg Society of St. Louis University

Services were held at Skirpan Funeral Home and a Mass was celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Brownsville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peters Historical Church, Brownsville.
