Joseph E. Morofsky

Army veteran served at Pearl Harbor

Joseph E. Morofsky, 91, of Nemacolin, died 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 1997, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg.

He was born April 30, 1906, in Gales, Fayette County, a son of Leon and Mary Bercheck Morofsky.

He was a retired miner from Nemacolin Mine and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He was a former member of American Legion Post 400 at Carmichaels.

In 1972, he married Anna Block, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Morofsky of Fredricksburg, W.Va., and Richard Morofsky of Nemacolin; one grandson, R. Bryan Morofsky; and one sister, Mary Morofsky of McMurray.

Deceased are three sisters, Emma Gorcheck, Barbara Descaro and Helen Morofsky; one brother, Edward Morofsky; and one half sister, Vera Gaskey.
