Joseph Banks

World War II veteran was formerly of New York City.

Joseph Banks, 85, of Nemacolin, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, January 6, 2002, in Jones Personal Care Home, Carmichaels.

He was born July 16, 1916, in Hudson, N.Y., a son of John and Elizabeth Bedo Banks.

On October 1, 1940, he married Ethel Buck, who died December 26, 2000.

Mr. Banks was a World War II veteran, having served in Italy as private first class with the 7th Infantry Division, Company H.

He and his wife resided in Long Island City, N.Y., before moving to Nemacolin in September 1973.

Mr. Banks was a New York City employee.

He was a member of N.Y.C. Civil Service Retirees Association, Disabled American Veteran Chapter 29, Postal Rod and Gun Club, National Rifle Association and Teamsters Local 831, all of New York.

Surviving are a niece, Carol DiBiase Phillips of Nemacolin; a nephew, John DiBiase Jr. of Carmichaels; and two grandnephews. Deceased, in addition to his wife, are two sisters and three brothers.
