Rev. Fr. Apolinary Murawski

Rev. Fr. Apolinary Murawski, 89, of Greensburg, Pa., passed away Monday, July 27, 1998, in the St. Anne Home, Greensburg.

He was born March 25, 1909, in Zembrzus-Plock, Poland.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Fr. Murawski was a Roman Catholic priest, who came to the United States in 1967, after serving several polish parishes in his homeland of Poland. He began his priestly duties in Western Pennsylvania as an associate pastor at St. John and Saint Mary (Nativity) Roman Catholic Churches of Uniontown, St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church of Footedale, St. Anne Roman Catholic Church of Fellsburg and Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church of Republic. On Feb. 5, 1975, he was named pastor of St. Albert Roman Catholic Church of Palmer and its mission, St. Mary's of Gates Mine, where he served until his retirement from active administration in 1984.

Fr. Murawski was a resident of the Neumann House, a retirement center for Greensburg Diocese Catholic Priests, a weekend substitute priest and an active member of the Greensburg Fraternity of Polish Priests.

He is survived by two sisters, Sabina Rutkowska of Lublin, Poland and Theodora Grzeszczak of Zembrzus, Poland; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received in the DEARTH FUNERAL HOME, South Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today from 6 to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday from 3 to 7:30 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held Wednesday evening at 8 p.m., in the St. Thomas R.C. Church in Footedale, Pa. A Concelebrated Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 30, 1998 at 11 a.m., in the St. Thomas R.C. Church, with Bishop Anthony G. Bosco as the main celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Thomas Church Cemetery, Footedale.
